The Elements of Photography
COMPOSITION- how elements are arranged in a photograph with a balance of unity, variety, and dramatic intensity.
LINE- One dimensional, it helps lead your eye around the composition of the photo. Lines can vary in length and direction.
SHAPE- The two dimensional outline of a subject. Height and width are its dimensions.
FORM- Three dimensional and gives depth.
SPACE- There is three dimensional, positive, and negative space. Space gives art depth.
COLOR- Light that is reflected off objects with three main characteristics: value, hue and intensity.
TEXTURE- Helps to emphasize the features and details in a photograph. It can be used to give realism and character to a picture and may in itself be the subject.
